Canaan Impressions

Theres nothing those eyes cant sense.

There's nothing she can't sense.

We always have great expectations for the works of Type-Moon and if you are looking for something to tide you over while you wait for the conclusion of Kara no Kyoukai and more then Canaan is a pretty good investment of your time. A Chinese setting combining stylish action from asian films, including plenty of gun kata put Canaan as a serious contender among serious action animes.

Canaan our beloved gun toting main character has synesthesia, which is a phenomenon that allows her to use her 5 senses very differently from us. At a certain part she was chasing after a friend through a complex corridor and she followed the tracks of her orange colored smell. The smell was colored orange because her friend was scared.

Canaan is very skilled in her craft, which is dispatching entire crowds of enemies with plenty of finesse and style to spare with only her beloved handgun. Even if you are tired of ass kicking girls there’s still plenty to please you here. I recommend it.

**Originally me and my friend Lizzie completely misunderstood Canaan’s sensory abilities and she dubbed her eyes as “Mystic FPS eyes” because of their likelihood to the eyes to the protagonist of the video game F.E.A.R.**

Claymore Issue 94 is out

Claremanga

Claymore 94 is out as well. I can’t say much without spoiling but damn I like where this manga is heading. All of the major players in the story are making their moves and things are getting extremely serious very quickly. Now we must wait for another month once again for the next issue. Yagi-san is a master of torture.

Hellsing 06 is fansubbed

Bad ass.

Bad ass.

Hellsing VI is finally fansubbed. Hellsing is back  throwing more over the top action, the same insane plot and huge explosions over our way. The 9th crusade begins and Hellsing HQ is attacked by Zorin Blitz and gang. The Wild Geese, mercenaries for hire working for Hellsing face their toughest adversaries yet.  I must say the last three OVAs are among my favorite animes of all time and that’s saying a lot. Even you who has read the manga is not prepared for the level of awesome used in this OVA. Seriously.

Deceptive cuteness

Deceptive cuteness

The day has finally come. KnK is back and it is awesome as usual.  Shiki and her newly introduced bitter rival Azaka team up to discover the mystery behind a death at the local magus school. The plot thickens as their memories are mysteriously taken away and long forgotten events  tease to resurface. All the things that make the series attractive are still there; The wonderful art, the magical soundtrack and even the creepiness at some parts. Though I must say Shiki was deffinately one upped by Azaka as far as combat scenes go. What is more scary for you an amnesiac psychotic killer prone to mood swings or an incestual pyromaniac? Sorry Azaka but Shiki wins this one.

Valkyria Chronicles Impressions

VCAnime

Hello everyone sorry for the sudden and long loss of activity here.  I had plenty of time to catch up on anime I’ve been missing out but I gotta admit the one I was looking forward to the most was the anime adaption of Valkyria Chronicles.  I’m a huge fan of the game so I had big hopes for this. Sadly however I was disappointed. Don’t get me wrong  there are some qualities but the first season is completely disappointing. The story sometimes is absurdly different from the game and I think its missing out of  all the things that make the game epic. The anime appears to use the same soundtrack as the game, which can be both good and bad. Good as in the soundtrack of the game is superb and bad as in the strong music feels out of place with this mellow version of the game’s story.

No worries though. Season 2 is shaping up to be a lot better. That’s fine and dandy since beggars can’t be choosers.

Hellsing Ultimate 5 is propperly fansubbed

hellsingultimate5

The long wait is over a very decent sub of Hellsing Ultimate V is finally available. I must say this is the bloodiest release by far and that’s saying a lot considering we’re talking about this particular series. It’s different slightly from the manga but it’s very awesome, though British nationals may not be too pleased. By the way, are you able to name all of the movie references in Alucard’s dream? It took me a while to find them. Oh, I also discovered that ‘aparently’ Wild Geese is also the name of a movie. Go figure.

Chaos Head impressions

Posted in Anime on 14/11/2008 by overdoseplus

This year is having a great anime season and Chaos Head seems to be part of what is making it great. The story is about mysterious murders that is happening in town caused by ‘New Genes’. The main character is very delusional, he allucinates about video games and anime constantly. Bordering on insanity, he even confuses real people with his allucinations. He also lives in a container and he spends most of the day playing MMORPGs when he’s not in school. The story seems to be typical japanese urban horror but it’s very well done. The character designs are very good and there’s a lot of little details you’ll love in this anime.
